“You are what you eat!” While this proverbial phrase is commonly used to describe our health conditions based on the food we eat, it may well reflect the same, if not more, significance on our spiritual lives. People throughout history have been searching for the kind of healthy diet that will give us good health and long life — keto, carnivore, vegetarian, plant-based, etc. When the Lord Jesus Christ gave bread to His disciples and told them, “Take; this is my body,” Jesus wanted to become part of the spiritual lives and journey of His disciples. This is also the reason why believers today celebrate the Lord’s Supper; i.e. to remind us of our dependence on, and nourishment from, the Lord Jesus Christ. It’s a commandment from God that His followers should feed their thoughts with the Word of God. So, on what do we feed our eyes and our thoughts? Remember: garbage in, garbage out — the quality of output is determined by the quality of the input.
