Isaiah prophesied about the arrival of Jesus into the world and into our lives. By the very presence of Jesus we have light, and our lives will be illuminated as promised, as if it were the light of the dawn that increases until the day is perfect (Prov. 4:18). In the midst of so much darkness, we must shine as lights in the world (Phil. 2:15). Once, a blind man was walking at night with a flashlight on. Someone mentioned to him that the flashlight was useless, since he was blind. The answer was that he had it on so no one would bump into him. The light that is in us must be seen from afar, lest the light that is in us be only darkness (Luke 11:35).
