This short passage is the only reference in all of Scripture about the life and times of Jesus as a youth, which is a pivotal age for people all across the world. At 12 years old, young people in the Caribbean, where I live, tend to find themselves in the throes of a decision that will often impact the rest of their lives. Our system of education, patterned after the British, is designed to prepare 12-and 13-year-olds for entry into our secondary school program. This is similar to junior high school in the United States. Invariably, the choice of school and academic path that a young person makes will determine the career path he or she ends up pursuing. Alas, one’s decision at this point in life may well determine the quality of the life one lives! How great it would be if the youth of the Caribbean and the world could be half as assured as our Lord was, that they “… must be in the Father’s house!”

Haggai has been pivotal to my experience as a believer in Jesus Christ. My participation in the Haggai Leader Experience in 2002 provided the perfect fill-up that my Christian walk needed. My more recent participation as a faculty member keeps me grounded and focused on my calling to serve in the vineyard of the Master.
