This is the Golden Rule. I loved it the very first time I heard it — because it’s true. I love being treated with kindness, love, and as a special creation of God. After I accepted Jesus in my heart, I understood I have to treat people like that too. No matter how people treat me, I know I have to love and treat them well. When I did not know this verse nor Jesus, I was not like that. I used to treat people how they treated me. But thanks to God and His Word, love, care, and mercy, I know now that I can practice the Golden Rule with the same love, joy, and care that Jesus gave me, even when I did not deserve it. God is good. God is love. We love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19). I thank God for His word. People need to be loved as Jesus loves us.
