Unmerited grace from God amazes me. A crying mom expressed her fear that her only child may not survive the dreaded dengue hemorrhagic fever. The 5-year-old girl gasped for breath while blood continued to flow down her nasogastric tube. We had done everything possible for the girl. I offered to pray, asking our Almighty God to have mercy and allow the child to live. After the prayer, the mother burst into tears, expressing her rebellion against God because of her failed relationship with the child’s father. “This is probably my punishment, doctor,” she blurted. “I turned away from a loving and forgiving God.” I comforted her and explained Jesus is always ready to welcome us back with open arms. The mother wiped her tears and said she would return to God. The child showed signs of recovery and was out of the Intensive Care Unit after 48 hours! Amazing grace from our loving Father indeed!
