What is “therefore” there for? I was taught to ask this question early in my Christian life whenever I encountered that word in Scripture. In today’s Scripture, “therefore” points to Jesus’ resurrection. Amidst all the mix-ups and confusion in our world, the truth of Christ and the power of His resurrection is essential. Those who stick with Jesus will find His words to be true and trustworthy. What sets Christianity apart from every other religion is the person at its center, Jesus Christ. This passage refers to His earlier prophecy, that He would die and rise again after three days. The Jews thought He was referring to the physical temple, but He spoke about His body. The disciples put this together after Jesus’ resurrection! So, as you remember the promises of Jesus, remember this! He died and rose from the dead, just like He said He would. You can believe the Scriptures — that is the way to experience the living Christ.
