As a newbie entrepreneur, I’ve recently built two companies from the ground up. While going through the legal formalities, there were some very pertinent and thought-provoking questions. Perhaps the most foundational was, “Why should your company exist?” Similarly, God is telling His people about some foundational and elemental work He is planning to do in the life of Israel. Like companies, we individually and collectively need to re-examine our actions and motives to see if we have gone away from the purpose to which we are called. Equally importantly, we must trust the process — God’s process. The people of that time had hedged their spiritual bets, so God decided to do a deep, restorative, and transformational work in their lives, and, transcendently through Jesus Christ who became that cornerstone, in ours. This way, we don’t have to hedge our spiritual bets. Like good organizations, we have a solid purpose — to reflect Christlikeness to the people around us in all our endeavors.
