Jesus’ teaching here involves a paradox. Several years back, a colleague of mine asked me, “Why do you worship a weak God?” He was looking at a picture of Jesus on the cross. For a moment, I was astounded, and then I thought to myself — how will I now explain to him that there is strength in weakness, and there is victory in defeat? Those of us who have studied mathematics know a function that “undoes” a given function. It is called an inverse function. The inverse literally produces the opposite effect of the original. Imagine this: Giving our life away for the sake of the Gospel will literally be “undone” by God, and we will receive the inverse. What we gave will be gained! What we lost will be found! Pain becomes a joy. Loss of time becomes gain of eternity. Ridicule becomes honor. Poverty becomes riches. Tiredness becomes strength!

The Haggai Leader Experience was transformational. We as a family could understand that the primary call of God in our lives is our relationship with Him. We learned that our rest is still yet to come. But while it is “today” let us work for the Lord, no matter where and what our circumstances are.
