Here in the Philippines, many have left their children under the care of relatives to work as overseas contract workers — in hopes of a better future for their children. Sadly, some children misunderstand their parents, thinking they are abandoning them for their own happiness. Hence, they hate and reject their parents when they come home. To be rejected by someone you love is excruciatingly painful. When our Lord was crucified, He was nailed, pierced, lanced, and abandoned by His disciples. This was painful to the core. But His greatest pain was the rejection of His Father when our sins were dumped on Him, causing Him to cry out. Jesus suffered this agony to set us free from sin. May His love inspire us to be holy and to love Him wholeheartedly, trust Him unshakingly, and serve Him passionately throughout our lives. May it also compel us to tell others about Him.
