The Samaritan woman, who was rejected by the people in her town because of her less than desirable reputation, came out to draw water in the afternoon. Jesus asked her for water to drink in order to lead the conversation from hostility between Jews and Samaritans to Himself. Jesus revealed to her that He is the living water and those who drink of the water that He gives will never thirst again. This living water is available to all, including those who consider themselves unworthy, guilty, or filled with shame. Jesus reminds us to drink from Him by drawing close to Him so we will become the fountain of water which springs up into everlasting life. May we continually draw close to Jesus and lead those who are lost to the living water, Jesus Christ!
